Lovely award winning Victorian house with large garden just 150 yards from the river in the historic and picturesque village of Houghton, 2 miles from St. Ives (pretty riverside town) and Huntingdon (historic market town) and just 2025 minutes from Cambridge.3 of our rooms overlook the garden. All en suite,with bath and power showers, very comfortable individually coil sprung beds, teletext tv,CDDVD players,trouserpress,hairdryer,hospitality tray,in room safe etc.etc.,and lots of useful extras ,Outstanding a la carte breakfast menu included in room rates. Home made fruit cakesbreadsjams marmalades etc. Free range eggs,hand made sausages ,locally sourced food wherever possible .Opened in 2003 and awarded 5 stars with a silver quality award by Visit Britain -One of very few Bed and Breakfasts in Cambridgeshire with 5 stars ,silver. Also a highly commended regional finalist in Excellence in England awards .An excellent centre for business or as a base for the leisure visitor to Cambridge,Ely, Stamford,Burleigh House,Althorp House,the Imperial War Museum at Duxford (approx 2025 minutes) ,the American Cemetry,Buckden Towers,Cromwell Museum etc. Now with WIFI internet access and ethernet for your added convenience at no extra charge. Borrow a bicycle to explore the area or enjoy over 26 miles of signposted walks on the Ouse Valley Way that runs through the village. One day coarse fishing licences available. Walks by the river in the summer or, in the winter, walk or a short drive to several country pubs with roaring log fires and good food or we can recommend several restaurants within about 10 minutes drive. |
